We Made it to the Keys

After being indecisive for months, we finally decided to head for the keys instead of the Bahamas for the next month. One of the main reasons was because we'd have to pay $300 to enter the Bahamas, and we expect to be there next fall; besides we've never been to the keys and may not be here again.  So, we're missing the Endeavor shuttle launch which is slated for the 16th, but if it gets scrubbed again, we can see it when we head north.
Canaveral Lock
When we left Titusville, we had to go down the ICW to reach the Canaveral Barge Canal, which includes going through 2 bridges and a lock. We weren't sure what to expect, we've only been through one (little) lock before in Virginia, but this lock was a little worse for wear than that one. There were no problems though and we got through pretty quickly and then out into the open ocean.

NASA's boat

There were only a few days good days to sail south so we were trying to take advantage of them. We were in the ocean by the afternoon and made it to West Palm Beach by the next afternoon. We were able to sail all day but by night the winds were so light, we had to motor. We stayed one night and then headed out and down to Port Everglades(Fort Lauderdale), after one night there we took another day hop down to Key Biscayne. So we made it to the keys and hope to hop down inside for the next few weeks.
